Signs the Clutch Pin Needs Replacing
- Inspect or replace the pin if it is bent, cracked, heavily corroded, loose in its bore or damaged during gearcase disassembly. Problems in the surrounding clutch assembly may present as difficulty selecting forward/reverse, incomplete gear engagement or abnormal movement of the clutch components.
- Because this is a small but critical retaining component, replacement is sensible whenever the existing spring pin has lost its original interference fit.
