Signs of Replacement
- Replace the dowel pin if it is bent, heavily corroded, worn, damaged during disassembly or missing. Because its purpose is component alignment, a damaged pin should not be forced back into service.
- When rebuilding a water pump or gearcase, make sure both locating pins are correctly seated where the factory assembly specifies two.
