The JD1914-40A is a heavy-duty 12V 5-pin changeover relay commonly used in marine and automotive electrical systems. In outboard applications it is frequently used as a replacement power trim and tilt relay, particularly on various Johnson, Evinrude and OMC engines.

Key benefits

Key Benefits

  • 12V DC operation
  • 40A normally-open (NO) contact rating
  • Standard 5-pin SPDT/changeover configuration
  • Compact cube-style relay
  • Male blade terminals
  • Suitable for trim/tilt motors and other higher-current 12V circuits
  • Common aftermarket replacement for several OMC relay numbers
  • The standard JD1914 configuration is documented as a 12V relay with 40A NO and 30A NC contacts, using terminals 30, 85, 86, 87 and 87a.
  • Johnson / Evinrude / OMC Cross-Reference

The JD1914 relay is sold as an aftermarket replacement for the following OMC-family numbers

  • 582195 • 582472 • 582473 • 584416 • 586147 • 586224
  • It is also commonly cross-referenced in the aftermarket to
  • Sierra 18-5705.

Compatible Outboards

  • Commonly used on applicable Johnson, Evinrude and OMC outboards equipped with a compatible 12V power trim/tilt relay circuit.
  • Because the JD1914 is fundamentally an electrical relay type rather than an engine-specific OEM component, fitment should be confirmed by checking the original relay's 12V rating, 5-pin layout, terminal configuration and OEM number before replacement.

Suitable Applications

  • Besides outboard trim and tilt, the JD1914 relay format can be used in suitable 12V marine electrical circuits, pumps, lighting, motors, accessories and switching systems, provided the circuit requirements and relay ratings match.
