Signs the Water Pipe Seal Needs Replacing
- Inspect or replace the seal if it is hardened, split, distorted, swollen, missing or no longer grips/seals the water tube correctly. Cooling-system symptoms can include reduced tell-tale flow, water leakage around the water-pipe connection or overheating after lower-unit/water-pump servicing.
- The seal is inexpensive, so it is worth inspecting whenever the lower unit or water pump is removed.
