Compatible Outboards
- Because the M66 connects through a standard compatible outboard tilt tube, it is suitable for many installations using Yamaha, Mercury, Mariner, Tohatsu, Suzuki, Honda, Johnson and Evinrude outboards. Ultraflex describes the cable as attaching directly to the tilt tube on all popular brands.
- Compatibility depends on the steering helm, engine steering arrangement and required cable length, rather than simply the outboard horsepower.
Replacement / Cross-Reference
- The M66 is also compatible with SeaStar steering helms designed for SSC62-style steering cables, making it useful as a replacement cable in compatible SeaStar/Teleflex mechanical steering installations.
Measuring for Replacement
- For an existing installation, the safest approach is to replace the cable with the same marked cable length where the existing routing is correct. Ultraflex's historical measuring guide specifies calculating the routing dimension and adding 56 cm, then converting to feet and rounding up to the next whole-foot cable size.
