The VPR35-60494 is an aftermarket 10-micron spin-on marine petrol fuel filter/water separator designed for Mercury/Mariner and Yamaha-style 11/16"-16 filter heads. It cross-references the Racor S3213 and several Mercury/Quicksilver filter numbers. VPR35-60494 is for Mercury, Mariner and Yamaha, all horsepower, all years, 2-stroke and 4-stroke applications. It is particularly useful as a boat-mounted primary fuel filter ahead of the engine, helping remove fine contamination and water before fuel reaches the outboard's own filtration system.

Key benefits

Key Benefits

  • 10 micron filtration
  • Water-separating marine fuel filter
  • Suitable for petrol outboards
  • Suitable for premixed 2-stroke fuel
  • Suitable for 2-stroke and 4-stroke outboards
  • Compatible with ethanol-blended petrol when used as an S3213-equivalent application
  • Standard 11/16"-16 centre thread
  • Replacement for Racor S3213-type systems
  • Spin-on design for straightforward servicing
  • Clear collection bowl can be used with the appropriate S3213/Racor-style version and bowl
  • Genuine Racor S3213 specification provides flow capacity up to approximately 227 LPH / 60 GPH

Compatible Outboards

  • Mercury Outboards
  • VPR35-60494 is suitable for Mercury outboards using the external Mercury/Racor 11/16"-16 water-separating filter head.
  • Mercury – All HP – All Years – 2 & 4 Stroke for the applicable external filter installation.
  • This means compatibility is determined primarily by the boat's filter head, rather than by an individual Mercury engine model.

Mercury 2-Stroke

  • 4HP, 5HP, 6HP, 8HP, 9.9HP, 15HP, 20HP, 25HP, 30HP, 40HP, 50HP, 60HP, 75HP, 90HP, 115HP, 125HP, 135HP, 150HP, 175HP, 200HP, 225HP, 250HP

Mercury FourStroke

  • 4HP through high-horsepower FourStroke models where an external water-separating filter system is installed

Mercury EFI / Optimax

  • Applicable where the boat uses the compatible 11/16"-16 external filter head.
  • The important qualification is that VPR35-60494 is an external boat-mounted filter, so the engine's horsepower alone does not guarantee fitment.

Mariner Outboards

  • Suitable for Mariner 2-stroke and 4-stroke petrol outboards fitted to the corresponding Mercury/Mariner external water-separating filter system.

Typical horsepower range includes

  • 4HP, 5HP, 6HP, 8HP, 9.9HP, 15HP, 20HP, 25HP, 30HP, 40HP, 50HP, 60HP, 75HP, 90HP, 100HP, 115HP, 125HP, 135HP, 150HP, 175HP, 200HP, 225HP and larger models, subject to the filter-head installation.

Yamaha Outboards

  • Suitable for Yamaha petrol outboards where a compatible Racor S3213 / 11/16"-16 external filter head is installed, including common
  • 2-Stroke
  • 6HP, 8HP, 9.9HP, 15HP, 20HP, 25HP, 30HP, 40HP, 50HP, 60HP, 70HP, 75HP, 85HP, 90HP, 115HP, 130HP, 150HP, 175HP, 200HP, 225HP, 250HP
  • 4-Stroke
  • F4 through larger F-series outboards where the compatible external separator is fitted.

Installation Note

  • This is primarily an external fuel/water separator element, not an engine-mounted filter unique to a particular horsepower.
  • Before fitting, confirm
  • 11/16"-16 filter-head thread → petrol application → S3213/35-60494 family → adequate clearance for filter/bowl.
  • For installations using the clear collection bowl, the bowl allows accumulated water and contamination to be inspected and drained.

Signs the Fuel Filter Should Be Replaced

  • Replace or service the filter if you experience hard starting, hesitation under acceleration, reduced maximum RPM, poor fuel flow, engine surging, visible water/debris in the bowl, corrosion of the filter body, or as part of scheduled annual fuel-system servicing.
