The NGK BCPR6E (Stock No. 3735) is a resistor-type V-Power spark plug featuring a projected nickel centre electrode for reliable ignition and combustion. It uses an M14 × 1.25 thread, 19 mm reach, compact 16 mm hex and gasket seat. The copper-core centre electrode assists heat transfer, while approximately 5 kΩ resistance suppresses ignition interference. BCPR6E is primarily an automotive and small-engine plug rather than a common outboard spark plug.

Important Fitment Information

  • BCPR6E should not be confused with BCPR6E-11.
  • - BCPR6E – nominal 0.9 mm / 0.036" gap
  • - BCPR6E-11 – 1.1 mm / 0.044" gap
  • Both use a 14 mm thread, 19 mm reach, 16 mm hex, gasket seat, resistor and projected electrode, but the preset gap differs. Australian product data confirms BCPR6E at 0.9 mm, while BCPR6E-11 is specified at 1.1 mm.
  • The NGK code can be read as
  • - B – 14 mm thread
  • - C – compact 16 mm hex
  • - P – projected centre electrode/insulator
  • - R – resistor
  • - 6 – NGK heat range 6
  • - E – 19 mm thread reach
  • The 19 mm reach is particularly important. It should not be substituted for a short-reach 12.7 mm marine plug simply because the thread diameter and heat range appear similar. NGK's coding documentation confirms the E designation as 19 mm reach.

Cross-Reference Spark Plugs

  • - NGK: BCPR6E
  • - NGK Stock No.: 3735
  • - NGK BCPR6E-11: related 1.1 mm-gap version — not automatically interchangeable
  • - NGK BCPR6EIX: related Iridium-series plug — verify application before substitution
  • Cross-reference data should always be checked against the engine manufacturer's specification rather than treated as automatic interchangeability.

Signs the Spark Plug Needs Replacing

  • - Difficult starting
  • - Rough or unstable idle
  • - Engine misfire
  • - Poor acceleration
  • - Reduced power
  • - Increased fuel consumption
  • - Carbon or oil fouling
  • - Worn electrodes
  • - Excessive electrode gap
  • - Damaged ceramic insulator
  • - Corrosion around the plug body
