Signs of Replacement
- Piston pin clips should generally be treated as replacement items whenever removed during an engine rebuild. Replace any clip that is distorted, stretched, corroded, damaged during removal or no longer seats positively in the piston groove.
- Correct seating is especially important—a displaced piston pin clip can allow the pin to contact the cylinder wall and cause severe internal engine damage.
