The Genuine Tohatsu 334-60223-0 Oil Seal is an OEM lower-unit seal fitted in the propeller shaft housing of selected Tohatsu 40–50HP outboards. It seals around the propeller shaft to retain gear oil inside the gearcase while helping prevent water from entering the lower unit.

Important
- For MD40/MD50 and M40/M50D2, Tohatsu specifies this seal for applicable propeller-shaft housings below serial 010674AF.
- If the new-style propeller shaft housing has been installed, Tohatsu states that two 3F3-60223-0 seals are required instead.
Signs the Oil Seal Needs Replacing
- Replacement should be considered if you notice gear oil leaking around the propeller shaft, milky or cloudy gear oil, water contamination in the gearbox, fishing line damage around the propeller shaft, visible seal deterioration or failed lower-unit pressure/vacuum testing.
- Whenever this seal is replaced, inspect the propeller shaft sealing surface, bearings and housing for corrosion, grooves or fishing-line damage.
