Original Tohatsu Thermostat Replacement 3RS-01030-0. The thermostat is a fundamental element of the outboard cooling system; it is responsible for regulating the temperature by means of a valve that opens or closes depending on the temperature at which the engine is working. Besides controlling the temperature, it also influences fuel consumption, since at low temperatures the fuel injection must be greater. Thus, just as it affects fuel consumption, it also increases the level of pollutant emissions.
