The Tohatsu 3KY-72575-0 is a Trim Sensor Kit that detects the outboard's trim angle and provides the position signal required by a compatible Tohatsu trim gauge/instrument system. It is commonly used with remote-control and pre-rigged Tohatsu installations where a helm-mounted trim meter is fitted.

Key benefits

Key Benefits

  • Provides outboard trim-position feedback
  • Allows compatible trim gauges to display engine trim angle
  • Complete sensor assembly rather than just the sender body
  • Factory sensor lead is 1,700 mm (1.7 m / 5.58 ft)
  • Two-wire electrical connection
  • Designed for marine/outboard installations
  • Used in Tohatsu pre-rigging systems
  • Suitable replacement for a failed, damaged or inaccurate trim sender

Compatible Tohatsu Outboards

  • MFS40A – 40 HP
  • MFS50A – 50 HP
  • MFS60A – 60 HP
  • Tohatsu TLDI
  • MD40B2 – 40 HP TLDI
  • MD50B2 – 50 HP TLDI
  • MWD50B2 – 50 HP TLDI

How the Trim Sensor Works

  • The sensor is mounted at the outboard's trim/bracket mechanism. As the engine is trimmed in or out, the sensor arm follows the engine's movement and changes the electrical signal sent to the trim meter.
  • The helm gauge can then display the relative position of the outboard, allowing the operator to see whether the engine is trimmed down, partially raised or further out.

Signs the Trim Sensor May Need Replacement

  • Typical symptoms include an erratic trim-gauge reading, a gauge stuck at one end of its range, no change in the gauge as the engine is trimmed, intermittent readings, damaged sensor wiring, corrosion at the connector or physical damage to the sensor arm.
  • Before replacing the sensor, the gauge, wiring, connectors and adjustment of the sender should also be checked.
